There’s something magical about going back home. It’s where communication is easy, you are understood, and you are comfortable. In my case home is Portugal and the US. When I write a story or read a script, having lived and studied in both countries gives me a unique insight into the nuances of not only the words we use but the inflection and sentiment conveyed in the cadence of our speaking patterns.
Your Narrator Needs to be Believable
I was asked to read a script for a Fuji kiosk back in the early 2000s. It had to be articulate, and clear, but also engaging. People around the world might be listening to my voice. Cool, I thought. One and done. I went on with life but it kept coming back to mind - what a fun project. And what could I have done better? How could I learn more? How could I be less generic and more believable? And could I actually do this for a living?
I found training at Edge Studios, and with actors like Michele Morgan, through coaches who offered online resources. I kept at it. Small jobs, any jobs. I procured specialists who would analyze my speech and provide feedback.
I made it my mission to be generous with other voice-over actors starting out and with directors and producers of low budget projects until one day the side gig became the real deal. When more requests came in than I could handle, and some were national, it all paid off. I love my job.
On-site or from home, independently or in directed sessions - it’s true what they say - when you love your job you never really “work” again.

Submit an edited, proofread script here. Indicate any special budget or timing constraints. Make sure you specify the sampling rate and type of file. Provide any artistic direction upfront. For directed sessions, a booking fee will apply.

For jobs over $1,000, a 25% downpayment is required, the remaining balance will be due within 30 days of being invoiced. Payment methods include: Paypal, EFT, and credit card.

You will be offered a portion of the file to approve the pace, inflection, and delivery. Once you have approved that, the remaining recording will be in the same style. If you are unhappy with the demo, the full recording will not take place until the demo has been approved.
If, once the project is completed or the director changes their vision, fees for re-recording may apply.
